music monday: garbage

I grew up listening to Garbage: for years, my father would play songs from some of their albums on the way to and from violin lessons. I credit them (and my father, in general) with broadening my musical taste at such an early age.

This band has such incredible members that it would have been impossible for them to not be great. With Shirley Manson's incredible vocals and the brilliant Butch Vig (producer of Nirvana's "Nevermind," Sonic Youth's "Dirty" and "Experimental Jet Set, Trash, and No Star," Smashing Pumpkins' "Gish" and "Siamese Dream," and pretty much every other great 90's rock album) on the drums, the band is a recipe for musical masterpieces.

Garbage came to D.C. last week (unfortunately, I didn't get tickets to either of their sold out shows), so in their honor, I'm passing along their genius to you. Enjoy.

Tracks To Check Out

music monday: the joy formidable

I was at the first annual Landmark Music Festival last weekend, and I saw The Joy Formidable play live. I decided to check them out because I liked one of their songs ("Whirring"). They played a killer show, and I'm OBSESSED now. You will be too.

my first youtube video!

Y'all, it's officially happened! My first YouTube video is live! The video features my friend JQ and my sister Lauren. We talk about celebrities, childhood cartoons, the best advice we've ever received, and much more!

I'm really nervous about it, so be gentle with me. I'm proud of the finished product, and I feel a sense of personal growth because I learned a new skill. I edited the entire thing, but did NOT realize how long it would take (a whopping five hours)! Hopefully, I'll get faster in the future.

I'm planning on doing some law school advice videos, makeup tutorials, tags, and challenges. Let me know what kind of videos you'd most like to see in the future! Comment below!
